Meditation Retreat in Karma Guen
As more and more of our friends are coming here to make meditation retreats here are some things which are useful to know. Due to the favorable climate at Karma Guen it is possible to make meditation retreats/holidays here all year round. Specially spring, fall, and winter are popular at the time when no big courses are taking place in Europe.
There are many different ways of making a meditation retreat. Our friends usually come for an open retreat, a closed retreat or a combination of the two.
The open retreat is very popular because one can combine the daily center life in Karma Guen with several meditation sessions. Usually 2-5 sessions a day depending on individual planning. As Karma Guen is full of Dharma activity there is a good change for participating and learning how a Diamond Way Retreat Center functions.
When you come for the open retreat you can usually get an individual or couple room or share a small dormitory with a few friends. We have enough place here but it is appreciated that you email us or fill the registration form (after signing in to this web site) and reserve your stay. As we have small course with Travel Teachers every month we need to arrange ahead of time to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
We recommend you to bring a sleeping bag or sheets and of course any thing you might need for personal use. The donation of 18 Euro per day includes your stay and also breakfast, lunch and dinner. As we try to keep a fordable price we all share the Center work at Karma Guen, this means in practical terms about 1 hour a day of helping in the center work.
When you wish to make a small closed retreat we have the possibility of staying in one of the 2 caves we have at the Kalachakra stupa. For staying in the cave it is needed to have a good foundation with your meditation and that you have traveled with Lama Ole Nydahl. For the friends who are doing a closed retreat for the first time we recommend that you combine it with an open retreat. Usually that means a couple of days in the cave and the rest of the time open retreat.
The caves at the stupa are very popular so if you wish to use them please reserve well ahead of time. The donation of 18 Euro per day includes both food and accommodation. When you are staying at the cave we usually bring one warm meal a day up to the cave. For the other meals normally you would come down to Karma Guen and we eat together or you keep some basic food in the cave for small meals.
If you have any questions or wish to reserve your stay at Diamond Way Buddhist Retreat Center Karma Guen please just send us an email.
We look forward to welcoming you here :-)
