Easter Course in Karma Guen - 31st of March until 4th of April 2010

Dear Friends,

We are happy to have Travel Teacher Carl from Denmark here at Easter. He will give a 5 day course starting Wednesday March 31st in the evening at 20.00.

Carl has offered to talk about the 3 roots LAMA, YIDAM, PROTECTOR. On Sunday April 4th Carl will give the evening lecture at the Stupa in Benalmadena.

Here is the planned shedule for the entire Easter course. Please remember to register on Karma Guen if you plan to join :-) For registration details, please look at the bottom of this page.

Easter Course at Karma Guen

Inspiration and frame for the course: The three roots of spiritual development: Lama, Yidam and Protector put into context with the buddhist view on spiritual development in general, from confused to enlightened, looking at Lam rim (the gradual path), the 6 things Gampopa states a wise man should know, and the four basic truths formulated by the Buddha. Connected to this, there will be an introduction to Öpagme, his pure realm, and the phowas practice.

Start: Wednesday, the 31.3

  • 20.00: about the basis, the path and the goal in buddhism (introduction)

First day of Easter and first day of the course: Thursday the 1.4

  • 10-13: Spiritual development on the gradual path (I)

    • The four noble truths, stated by the Buddha. The realisation on the outer, inner and secret level.
  • 15-18: Spiritual development on the gradual path (II)

    • The 6 points that a wise person should know, formulated by Gampopa.
  • 20:00: The necassary element, a teacher, a lama (I).

    • The teacher as blessing, inspiration/means and protection The function of a Lama.

The second day: Friday 2nd of April

  • 10-13: Yidam (I)

    • The function and meaning of Yidam, plus using Diamond Mind as an example, this means short explanation of the Diamond Mind meditation.
  • 15-18: Yidam (II)

    • The different phases of the Diamond Way Tantric meditation, incl. building up, mantra and dissolving phases, and in between.
  • 20:00: Yidam (III)

    • Continuation and additionally meditation.

The third day: Saturday, 3rd of April

  • 10-13: Lama (II)

    • About Guru Yoga in general and some specific Guru Yogas Yidam.
    • Lama (III): About Yidam practises (outer, inner and secret), plus some different examples.
  • 15-18: Questions

    • Free from the heart (corazon) plus meditation on Diamond Mind.
  • 20:00: Meditation and a party.

The fourth day: Sunday, 4th of April

  • 10-13: The Protectors, Maybe 11-14 (depending on the party) :0)

Prices for the Easter Course

  • Package price for the full course: 85 Euros
  • Whole day (lectures, meditations, food and accomodation all together): 25 Euros
  • One Lecture or Meditation session: 5 Euros
  • One meal: 5 Euros

Please note that the registration form mentioned here is to be used only for Weekend Courses, retreats and general visits in Karma Guen. It is not to be used for the Summer (some people say Spring) Course in Karma Guen.
