The great Thaye Dorje Gompa was inaugurated in 2004 by Gyalwa Karmapa, Shamar Rinpoche and Lama Ole Nydahl together with the mayor of Velez-Malaga. The Gompa's amazing wall paintings is the result of more than 7 years of intense detailed work by the artist Dawa and his students. Together with the 4 beautiful big statues the Gompa has become a reference for the elegant art of our Karma Kagyu lineage. 2000 people can sit in the Gompa and which makes it a ideal place for courses as well as individual meditation retreats throughout the year.
